Services

With a focus on empathy, compassion, and diversity, I believe in celebrating each individual’s unique story, ensuring every ceremony is a true reflection of the people at its heart.

I’ve climbed hills (pretty high ones), travelled far and wide, over land and sea, conducted services in front of hundreds of people and also with just a few in attendance.

Having lived in several countries I have experienced many different cultures, beliefs, and met so many wonderful people along the way.

Whether it’s a wedding filled with laughter, a heartfelt naming ceremony, a dignified funeral, or a vow renewal that reaffirms your love, I guide you through each step with warmth and professionalism.

I incorporate fun and light-heartedness where it fits, and ensuring that every service is conducted with the utmost respect and care.

I never forget, and tell you often – It’s your day and your way!

Rhona McLachlan Humanist & Celebrant
"Rhona married us on 7th June 2024 at The Radstone Hotel. From the moment we met Rhona at the Braehead wedding show we knew that we didn't want anyone else marrying us. I was so relieved when Rhona said she was available on our date. She was down to earth, kind, honest and she got our sense of humour. On the wedding day it felt like she was part of our family. We both felt at ease with Rhona marrying us. She answer our questions and was always in contact to reassure us. She made our day better than we could ever imagined. We would definitely recommend!! 10/10 Thank you for everything you done for us Rhona!!

  • What must we do to get to married in Scotland?
On your booking form I include a hyper link. This gives you a step by step guide of what you must do, and of course I will always be available to help you.
  • Where are you allowed to get married in Scotland?
In Scotland you can be married anywhere deemed safe by the Registrar of Scotland, and if you have the landowner’s permission. In a hot air balloon and on the water too!
  • Must we write our own ceremony/vows?
You can choose to write as much as you wish. I can do this for you, we can work together, we can keep vows hidden until you or I read them aloud or in private. It is your day to have and enjoy as you both choose.
  • What can we expect from you as our Celebrant?
As your legally authorised celebrant I will work with you both to create a bespoke ceremony. On booking with me we can have a chat to say hello and to get to know each other, then nearer your date (usually around 3 months before and as a reminder your M10 forms can be submitted) I arrange with you a date and time for a longer chat where I will gather information from you about your day, plans, hopes and dreams. I will if you need me to, offer suggestions and guidance. I ask you to fill out a Ceremony Detail form prior to this meeting and it helps to put in place fine details, and highlight any questions you may have. I can also send you vow, ring exchange and symbolic gestures examples. I will draft a wedding script which you will receive at least a month before your big day. I will always make myself available to answer any questions you have. On your big day I will arrive at your venue at least one hour before to check the marriage schedule, and to chat with both of you before the ceremony.
  • What are your costs?
For 2025 fee for wedding/non legal/vow renewal is £500. I take £100 deposit along with completed booking form to confirm booking and this is our contract. Remaining balance is due 1 moth before the ceremony date. Additional costs: Travel is 50p per mile. Rehearsal if requested is £250 (depending on location additional costs may be applied). This is rarely needed as I will support you both to plan your ceremony. Other services: Funeral service is £220.00 Double slot at crematorium is £250.00 Naming Ceremony is £250.00 End of Life Practioner services are costed on each individual case
